State 48 Brewery has established a comprehensive and modern craft brewery operation by installing a complete 20BBL brewing system that showcases both scale and sophistication. This extensive setup includes everything needed to efficiently produce a wide variety of craft beers, from the initial malt milling stage to fermentation, conditioning, cleaning, and packaging. The brewery equipment was supplied and installed locally by Tiantai Company, a trusted manufacturer known for quality and precision in brewery systems.
At the foundation of State 48 Brewery’s production process is the malt milling machine. This essential piece of equipment prepares the malted grains for mashing by crushing them into an optimal consistency, allowing for maximum extraction of fermentable sugars during the brewing process. The malt mill’s precision and adjustability ensure that brewers can fine-tune the grind to suit different beer styles, helping to control efficiency, flavor, and clarity in the final product.
The core of the brewery is the 20BBL four-vessel brewhouse, which is steam heated to provide precise temperature control throughout the brewing stages. Unlike simpler two-vessel systems, a four-vessel brewhouse separates the mash tun, lauter tun, kettle, and whirlpool into distinct vessels. This separation allows for enhanced process control, greater batch flexibility, and improved sanitation. With a 20BBL batch size, State 48 Brewery can produce substantial volumes of beer to meet growing market demand, while maintaining the ability to craft small-batch specialty brews.
Following the brewhouse, the brewery is equipped with a set of stainless steel conical beer fermenters, including a primary fermenter with a 40BBL capacity. The conical shape facilitates easy removal of yeast and sediment, improving the clarity and quality of the beer. Multiple fermentation tanks allow State 48 Brewery to ferment several batches simultaneously, increasing production capacity and efficiency. Temperature control and pressure regulation systems integrated into these fermenters help maintain optimal yeast health and flavor profile development.
