I. Application and Features
This machine is widely used for the filtration of beer, yellow wine, fruit juice beverages, pharmaceuticals, and other liquids. The device adopts advanced foreign microporous membrane filtration technology, offering excellent clarification and sterilization filtration performance. Depending on the material to be filtered, different filter cartridges (membranes) can be selected. This allows the desired molecules to pass through the membrane for purification, while impurities and bacteria in the material are retained.
Features:
Compact size, low investment, easy to transport and install
Hygienic design with fully enclosed operation, no sanitary dead corners
Filter cartridges are easy to install and remove, resistant to mold, and leak-proof
Capable of meeting any flow rate requirements
No residual waste

II. Model Selection
1.Filter Cartridge Selection
Filter cartridges have a wide range of applications, and there are many types and specifications available, making proper model selection very important.
Cartridges can be classified by use into two categories: for liquid filtration and for gas filtration. They are available in various sizes including 5-inch, 10-inch, 20-inch, 30-inch, and 40-inch. The typical working pressure ranges from 0.1 MPa to 0.4 MPa. Due to differences in pore size, flow rates also vary. For example, a 0.2μm–0.4μm filter used for turbid water typically achieves a flow rate of 300–500 kg/h. To increase hourly filtration capacity, multiple cartridges or combinations of 20", 30", or 40" cartridges can be used. For instance, to filter 5 tons per hour of sterile water, a 0.2μm 30-inch filter with 7 cartridges may be selected. If the liquid contains more impurities or has higher viscosity, a pre-filtration system should be added.
Gas filtration differs slightly from liquid filtration and is calculated in cubic meters per minute. A 10-inch cartridge with a pore size of φ0.22μm at 0.12 MPa and a pressure differential of 0.01 MPa achieves a flow rate of 4–6 m³/min. This is widely used in the fermentation industry.
2.Choosing the Right Cartridge and Pore Size
For sterilization purposes, cartridges with a pore size of 0.2μm–0.5μm should be used. For pharmaceutical injectables, antibiotics, and blood products, polysulfone (PS) filter cartridges are recommended.
To remove larger particles, microorganisms, or bacteria from liquids such as beer, liquor, yellow wine, wine, or oral solutions, a high-precision pore size filter is sufficient.
For high-temperature gas filtration or sterilizing fermentation air, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) filter cartridges are preferred.
3. Stainless Steel Cartridge Filters
These filters contain cartridges with various pore sizes. To achieve fine filtration, pre-filtration equipment is essential (e.g., diatomaceous earth filters or sheet filters for beer, and plate-frame, melt-blown, or string-wound filters in pharmaceutical applications). After pre-filtration, microporous sterilization filter cartridges can be used to achieve fine filtration.
4.Applications and Design Considerations
These filters are commonly used for mineral water, pharmaceutical-grade sterile water, water for integrated circuits in the electronics industry, and high-quality water in the food industry.
When designing a cartridge microporous filter system, it should function as an independent filtration unit, ideally with backflushing capability to reduce production costs.
5.Quality Requirements
In addition to selecting high-quality filter cartridges, it is equally important to use high-quality filter housings. Stainless steel construction should be finely processed with smooth internal and external surfaces. Special attention must be paid to the cartridge interface types—222, 226, and flat-end are international standard formats. Incorrect selection may lead to incompatibility or poor sealing and filtration due to rough manufacturing.
Note: When using stainless steel housings, be aware of whether the filtered liquid may corrode the stainless steel. If corrosion is likely, filter housings made from alternative materials should be considered.

IV. Brief Description of the Process Flow:
The standard setup consists of the following filters: one pre-filter and one fine filter.
Pre-Filter:
Used to trap diatomaceous earth or other solid particles in the filtered liquid, thereby protecting the fine filter. The filtration precision is 1μm.
The pre-filter serves two important functions:
1.To retain yeast and impurities that would normally pass through during filtration.
2.To reduce the load on the fine filter and extend the service life of its filter cartridge.
Fine Filter:
Removes particles, microorganisms, and flocs to further enhance the clarity and brightness of the beer. The filtration precision is 0.45μm.
To reduce operator workload and facilitate equipment disassembly, a quick-opening design is considered.
V. Equipment Composition:
a. One pre-filter and one fine filter are installed on a single base frame.
b. Piping and valves are made of 304 stainless steel.
c. CIP and backflushing pipelines use Φ32 clamp-type butterfly valves.
d. Equipped with pressure gauges, drain valves, and other necessary valves.
